Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
OrthoGuide is an educational resource produced for healthcare professionals, with content relevant to West Suffolk Hospital. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller is [insert responsible organisation]. You can contact us at orthoguide460@gmail.com.
2. The information we collect
OrthoGuide is deliberately designed to minimise personal data:
- No accounts: you do not need to register or log in to use OrthoGuide.
- Progress data: the sections and modules you have viewed, and your quiz results, are stored locally in your browser using “local storage” on your own device. This stays on your device and is not transmitted to or stored by us.
- Certificate name: if you generate a certificate, the name you type is used only on your device to create the PDF. It is not sent to or stored by us.
- Feedback form: if you choose to complete the feedback form, it is hosted on Microsoft Forms. Information you provide there is processed by Microsoft and used by us to improve the resource. Please do not enter patient-identifiable information.
3. Third-party services
When you use OrthoGuide, some third-party services may receive limited technical data (such as your IP address and device/browser information) in order to deliver content:
- YouTube (Google) — embedded videos. Google may set cookies and collect data when you play a video. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Forms — used for feedback. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.
- Google Fonts and content delivery networks (e.g. cdnjs) — used to load fonts and software libraries needed to display the site.
We do not control, and are not responsible for, these third parties’ processing of your data; please review their privacy policies.
4. Cookies and local storage
OrthoGuide does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use browser local storage to remember your progress on your device. Some embedded third-party content (e.g. YouTube) may set its own cookies. See our Cookies Policy for details.
5. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
Where we process any personal data, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing and improving an educational resource, and/or your consent — for example, when you choose to submit feedback or play embedded third-party content.
6. Data retention
Because progress data is stored locally on your device, it remains there until you clear it (see our Cookies Policy). We do not hold a central database of users.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability in relation to your personal data. 8. Security
We take reasonable steps to keep the Service secure. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.
9. Children
OrthoGuide is intended for healthcare professionals and trainees and is not directed at children.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above will change to reflect any revisions.
